Status of the Courthouses Project

We are moving along in our quest to publish photos of all the courthouses and chancery buildings in the State of Mississippi. So far we’ve published 48 courthouses and a few separate chancery buildings. That means we’re about half-way to being done.
Here are the courthouses that have not yet been published, and for which I do not have a photo in stock:

You can add to the collection next time you’re around your friendly, neighborhood courthouse. Simply snap a photo with your smart phone and email it to me. The instructions are at this link.

Of historical note, the Courthouse in Paulding, Jasper County, Mississippi, and the Catholic Church are the only public buildings left there. At one time Paulding had a population approaching 2,000. It had several doctors, lawyers, mercantile establishments, hotels, saloons and a newspaper: The Eastern Clarion, later to become the Clarion-Ledger. When the railroad bypassed Paulding it went they way of the dinosaur.
That’s the unfortunate story of a number of now-ghost-towns in Mississippi. Thanks for passing that along.
