Some scenes from the John Wayne movie, The Horse Soldiers, were filmed here. I remember seeing these buildings in the background.
Must’ve been the military college from which the cadets took a stand against the federal cavalry. That movie was loosely based on Grierson’s raid from Tennessee to the Amite River in La.

Right. In Washington. Jefferson Davis attended. John James Audubon was a professor at one time.
