You just cant find hog maws anywhere. Now I want some tamales.
I recommend Hicks. My son is a picky eater who had never had a tamale before we went there several years ago. He ate one and then ordered a dozen, all of which he devoured. I told him that having your first tamale at Hicks was like you first MLB game being the World Series.
And the hog maws are quite good. Slow braised in onions and peppers. Melt in your mouth good.
I wasn’t as fond of the pigs ears. Weird chewy/crunchy texture.
Clarksdale
Yes! Hicks’ at Clarksdale. My favorite tamales in the Delta. Last time I was there, Mr. Eugene gave me a complimentary plate of hog maws and pigs’ ears.
Hard to believe one of these has lasted 24 hours. There are 2 clues in the photo. One is on the van. The other — on the sign — is the name of the place. Surely some reader has been there. If you click on the picture, you will see a much larger version.
DeKalb (wild guess).
Nope. It’s in the Delta.
I wish it was close to where I live.
